sexuality and sexual behavior from each of the following sources

Our values, beliefs, and expectations about human sexuality and sexual behavior have been shaped over the course of our lifespan by those around us, our social and cultural environments, as well as by our personal experiences. Think back over the course of your life. What messages, if any, did you receive about sexuality and sexual behavior from each of the following sources:

1) Family (parents, siblings, grandparents, other family members)

2) Friends or other peers/classmates

3) School-based sex education (what was taught in the classroom during family life/health education)

4) Religious/Faith-based organization (what did you hear at church, synagogue, mosque, temple, etc.) – if you did not participate in a religious/faith-based organization growing up, how do you think your perspectives on sexuality compared to those of your friends who did participate in religious/faith-based organizations?

5) Media (what messages did you get about sexuality from TV, movies, music videos, social media, etc.)

What sexuality topics/issues do you remember being discussed? What do you remember most about the information or messages you received? Which source(s) had the most positive influence on you? Which source(s) had the most negative influence on you? How similar or different were the messages you received across these sources? How did/do you reconcile these differences? What do you wish you had learned about sexuality or sexual behavior growing up?

Take some time to process these questions before you write about them. Discuss your experiences in some detail. Length: Approximately 3-5+ pages. Be sure to put your name on your assignment.
